Day 9
Hi all,
Today is our last day in Canada then back to the USA. We have found a
lot of pros and cons of living up here. Let's start with the pros. The scenery is
hard to beat in their National Parks beautiful mountains, blue lakes. Because
of budget cuts the parks have very few pull offs. Our dollar is worth more here
at the present time, this means you can buy more. The people are all very sweet
and accommodating .
The cons are, everything costs more
up here, a lot more. Motels are about the same, but food and gas are much
higher. One liter of gas is 1.10 CA. There are almost 4 liters in a US gallon
so that is over 4 bucks per gallon. Because our dollar is stronger it figures
out to be 3.00 per gal. Eating out, the meals are 15-20% more, so it deletes
the money you save with the dollar difference. US National Parks blows Canada's
away. ( just my opinion )
Ok, on with today. We are in Okotoks
south of Calgary BC and today we are in a quest to find the Heartland Ranch.
For you that are not familiar with
Heartland, it is the longest dramatic family series ever to run in Canada, and
is now in their 9th year. Prilly loves this show because it's about a family
that has a horse ranch in NW Canada.
We head west towards the mountains.
Look, finally we see a wild animal
bigger that a breadbox.
Wiley the coyote has his eye on a
side of beef.
He sneaks down into a gully to get
close to his prey.
Here comes Zeke & Moe to the
rescue.
Wiley is out of here.
A little farther down the road we see
some deer.
Heartlands Ranch Front Gate
The barn
The House
Jacks old truck.
You are not allowed to go on the
property so all our pictures are taken outside the gate.
We then go to High River which is
Hudson in the series.
This is Maggie's Diner but it was
closed.
Looking inside the window.
The two main charters
Amber Marshall as Amy
Graham Wardle as TY
This afternoon we were going to go
horse backing riding but it did not work out so we did laundry instead.
Tomorrow we head down to Glacier
National Park USA
See you then. Ralph & Prilly
